    SEMSCIO, LLC was founded in October 2016 in Tarpon Springs, FL by Colleen Spiegel, Ph.D., to assist startups with grant consulting, commercialization planning, company strategy, technology development plans, and grant proposal reviews. SEMSCIO is a small disadvantaged and woman-owned business as defined by the SBA. Since the company’s inception, SEMSCIO has served over 150 clients, who are primarily startup businesses.

We provide training through on-line classes and seminars and one-on-one assistance programs. Since Semscio was founded in 2016, we have assisted over 150 high-tech businesses.

    Entrepreneurship experience:

    Dr. Colleen Spiegel has started multiple companies, including her own high-tech company in the past. This means that she understands the challenges unique to being a high-tech entrepreneur.

    Publications:

    Dr. Spiegel has authored many titles including scientific and engineering textbooks such as ‘Designing and Building Fuel Cells’ (McGraw-Hill, 2007), and ‘PEM Fuel Cell Modeling and Simulation Using MATLAB’ (Elsevier Science, 2008). She has the scientific and engineering background to dive deep and understand the steps needed for product development.

    Consulting experience:

    She has been a consultant for over 170 companies during her career. Over 150 of these have been directly related to helping companies with non-dilutive funding, business strategy, and product development.

    Professional experience:

    Dr. Spiegel has worked at companies such as Bausch & Lomb and has experience in multiple industries such as pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and energy. Her diverse set of industry experience means that she can assist companies with varying types of technologies.
